Unfortunately we had to cancel the IV World Organic Forum 2020. Considering the developments of the last days and weeks with regard to the Corona Pandemic, the cancellation of the event at that time retrospectively was definitely the right decision.
Representatives of 16 international regions (among them eco-model regions or organic model regions from Germany, regions/projects from North-Wales, Romania, India, Asia, Ghana, Zanzibar, Brazil) had confirmed their participation in the conference in order to gain impulses from the presentations, to discuss and present their region and to become part of the newly founded network of SDG regions. In a workshop, a grid for the validation of SDG regions was to be developed and at the conference the starting signal for the network of SDG regions and the cooperation over the following years was to be given. About 130 participants and representatives of the press were registered. To ensure that our work from this year was not in vain, we want to take up the World Organic Forum on the topic of "Localizing SDGs" and the foundation of a network in 2021 again.
Therefore the date for the World Organic Forum 2021 has now been fixed:
Tuesday 02.03.2021 - Thursday 04.03.2021

The “Haus der Bauern” foundation organized an international congress on the issue of “peasants’ rights” from 8-10 March 2017, which was be attended by lobbyists for small farmers worldwide as well as representatives of international organisations and numerous stakeholders.
The 'Global Peasants' Rights' congress sheds light on the situation of small scale farmers and the rural population around the world, draws public attention to the importance of peasants for sustainable local and regional production of food in agro ecological quality and emphasizes the need to protect their rights and their indigenous knowledge.
The goal of the congress is twofold: to increase awareness of the situation and the requirements of international small farmers and to support the UN working group for te development of a “Declaration on the Rights of Peasants and Other People Working in Rural Areas”.
The “Haus der Bauern” foundation therefore contributes to coordinated actions together with other organisations and stakeholders such as La Via Campesina, Brot für die Welt and FIAN whose goal is to promote this urgent project in the responsible UN committees.
